Brush With Foodie Fame

At the tender age of 19 months, Max is the 1st in our family to enjoy a taste of The French Laundry in Yountville, CA. We were enjoying a gorgeous Napa Valley day with the Kaer family and Auntie Jamie at Bouchon Bakery, and Joe was holding Max up to watch the bakers making rolls. The head baker thought Max was darn cute and brought Max a roll fresh from the oven. She said Max was tasting one of the rolls that they exclusively bake and serve at The French Laundry! Might not seem like a big deal, but at $250/person for dinner I'm not sure Joe or I will ever taste one of those rolls (and by the way, Max didn't even share a bite with us, which I'm guessing means it was pretty darn tasty).
After our time at Bouchon, we headed over to Napa Style, a homegoods/fine foods shop by acclaimed chef Michael Chiarello. Again, Max's cuteness grabbed the attention of said Chef as he was heading out of the kitchen and it allowed Joe and I the chance to have a 20 second interaction with Chef Chiarello. Max was loving the salami and bread that was being sampled and Chiarello said "Just like my kids!"

Tongue Tied

So funny to hear a tongue tied year and a half year old. Max has taken to saying "MommyDaddy, MommyDaddy" over and over recently. Says both our names together real fast. Sometimes "MommyDaddy" and other times "DaddyMommy," but always together.

The other day the three of us were driving someplace and Max was babbling "MommyDaddy, MommyDaddy" in his car seat.

Except it suddenly sounded like this:

“MommyDaddy, MommyDaddy, DaddyMommy, MaddyDomm...hahaha”

Max got entirely tongue tied and the split second he realized he mixed up the letters/sounds for Mommy & Daddy he just burst out laughing. And so did MommyDaddy.
