This Is Gonna Be An Annual Egg Hunt ?!?!?

This past weekend our good friends Greta & Nate, and their daughter Matilda, hosted the best Easter Egg Hunt ever! The kind of super fun party that I dream of planning but never actually do...because holy buckets is it sooooo much better to attend a party with three littles in tow, rather than throw a party with three littles of my own and welcome another 20 littles over. Greta - you are amazing for all you did to make this spectacular and memorable and kid and parent friendly. Really. You made mine and Joe's job of parenting this weekend a bit easier and a lot more fun. Thank you for the fun!

And here's the hostess. With.the.mostest!

She totally outdid herself (those of you who know Greta know that means she did a hell of a lot). It was one of those parties that's an adventure just to attend. There were little surprises around every corner. Hidden eggs for kids, and adults. Themed food and drinks. Fun decor. Activities for the kids. Check out a lot of her photos and memories of the day here and here.

I didn't get a full Hanson family photo, but here's Greta and Tillie. To imagine Nate, just look at Tillie and think of someone about 6 feet tall with a bit more hair... OK. That wouldn't do Nate justice and perhaps does Tillie a disservice. Trust me, the whole family is as cute as the Egg Hunt they hosted!

Max's memories of Sunday's hunt goes something like this.
"Mom, Greta has lemonade. LEMONADE!! This is my 2nd glass."
"Mom, Greta has chocolate bird nests! They are soooo good!"
"Mom, Greta has COTTON CANDY!!!"
Pretty sure if he wasn't in a sugar coma he would have asked to move in.

Although Otto generally displays more of Joe's traits, there's one thing in particular that makes him all sweet child of mine. His love of chocolate. He has little interest in sugar candy, but will give you a blow-up meltdown tantrum for a piece of chocolate. Add some caramel or peanut butter and you best take cover because he is explosive. Upon hunting out some chocolate, the Hanson's garden hose, and a bottle of bubbles, he was set for a fun afternoon. Hopping on the "Hop this way" welcome hopscotch in their driveway was pretty great, too.

Wren was just relieved she had an event to wear one of her dozens of spring dresses to. Guessing next year she'll be pretty excited about the sweets, too.

Crafty side note: I made my first "rosette" hair clip for her to coordinate with this dress.

Greta was kind enough to take a few minutes before officially kicking off the hunting festivities to snap away and capture what she could of all five us in the same frame.

Easter 2012. Schuster Family. Take One.

I'm so happy this is a 1st annual tradition that Greta and Nate have started. It means a lot to have fun friends that welcome our family as a piece of their own right here in Minneapolis.

  1. I can pass on the lemonade and cotton candy but I am totally with Otto on the chocolate. Glad to hear the Schuster family had fun. I know how much your friendship means to Greta and Nate. P.S. The hair clip and sweet girl and both very adorable. Happy Easter, Love, Tillie's Grandma Nancy
